Singapore’s Hamworthy Pumps, designer and manufacture of specialized in-line pump solutions for the marine and offshore industries, names Norwegian Per Abrahamsen new Product Director.
48-year-old Per Abrahamsen is no newcomer to the industry and started as a pump designer at Hamworthy Pumps in Asker Norway in 1999. Throughout the years he has gained an in-depth-knowledge being involved in the development and design of some of the pumps in the Hamworthy portfolio and held various positions in the group, later in Wärtsila, including three years as a chief design engineer in the Singaporean factory.
Per Abrahamsen will in his new role focus on pump products, improvements to existing pumps, new pumps, and new market opportunities as well as increase technical understanding internally in the company. Per Abrahamsen’s wife is Singaporean, and they moved back to Singapore a year and a half ago after nine years in Norway.
Per Abrahamsen has extensive experience with cargo handling systems and fuel gas systems for both LNG & LPG vessels and has prior worked for Wartsila Gas Solutions and Keppel Gas Technology Development. To African Pumps he says that the marine industry is moving towards cleaner fuel. “We need to develop pumps that contribute to the process of making shipping greener. We must be part of the transformation,” Per Abrahamsen says.
