His Majesty The King of Sweden led a delegation to Singapore from November 19-21, 2024. As a result, over ten memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed, aimed at enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as health, defence, energy, transport, and civil aviation.

The Swedish delegation, which included Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson, and State Secretaries Håkan Jevrell and Miriam Söderström, actively engaged with key Singaporean leaders, notably Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung.  Furthermore Sweden and Singapore MoUs
On Thursday, in a significant development, a ceremonial exchange of five important agreements took place, thereby underscoring the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership. Specifically, the notable agreements include:

  • Health Care Innovation: An MoU promoting cooperation between the respective health ministries.
  • Defence Equipment: An amending agreement enhancing a previous MoU from 1998 regarding defence-related equipment.
  • Energy Cooperation: A new MoU between Sweden’s Ministry of Climate and Enterprise and Singapore’s Energy Market Authority for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
  • Transport Cooperation: A renewed MoU between the Swedish Transport Administration and Singapore’s Land Transportation Authority.
  • Civil Aviation: An MoU signed by Sweden’s Luftfartsverket and Singapore’s Civil Aviation Authority.

Furthermore, approximately 50 Swedish companies, government agencies, and higher education institutions participated in the Singapore-Sweden Royal Business Forum, organized by Business Sweden.

Overall, this state visit reinforces the strong bond between Sweden and Singapore and establishes a foundation for future collaborative opportunities, benefiting both nations through innovation and shared expertise.
