Swedish Days in Bangkok

Bangkok is set for a weekend of Swedishness with the centerpiece being a big promotional event at Eden1, in CentralWorld from today, Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October 2014. Among the leading companies who will display their innovations and technologies during the event are Volvo Car, Volvo Trucks, Diakrit, Husqvarna, Electrolux, Alfa Laval, Atlas Copco.

The event may be more known to the general Thai public than to the Scandinavian community as the goal is first of all to reach out to the Thai people. The program for the coming day is like this:

Friday October 24th, 2014
10.00 a.m.   – Central World Opens
11.00 a.m.   – Activities in booths
14.00 p.m.   – Opening Ceremony starts at Eden 1
15.00 p.m.   – Opening Ceremony ends
17.00 p.m.   – MC introduces all booth activities
18.00 p.m.   – 1st round of lucky draw
19.30 p.m.   – 2nd round of luck draw

The exhibition is under the theme “Beyond Innovation”.  Many interesting and innovative products will be showed at the event.

  • MyFC PowerTrekk: a portable battery charger that generates electricity from water which can be used anywhere at any time.  It is applicable to mobile phones, GPS gadgets and any other devices that use batteries. The product was researched and developed by the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
  • Saab AB: an air traffic control tower which is remotely managed by a large airport’s air traffic controllers.  This is a safe and reliable solution for small regional airports where they might not be able to provide air traffic control with the airline.
  • IKEA: one of the world’s largest furniture and home appliances retailer.  Presenting its innovative logistics and business processes where the customers pick the ‘flat packages’ in the store and assemble by themselves.  IKEA products and food will be showcased during the

The visitors are able to experience traditional Swedish cuisine through the cooking demonstration that will be held.  Many prizes await such as furniture and souvenirs from IKEA, portable battery chargers from KTH etc.
