Among more than 100 Swedish embassies, the embassy in Vietnam was awarded for being the most successful Swedish Embassy in when it comes to promotion. Camilla Mellander, the Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, received the award last week in Stockholm.

The embassy in Hanoi has been recognized for its shift from being a development oriented embassy into a more Sweden promoting and trade oriented Embassy.  One of the new initiatives is a photo competition with focus on Swedish inventions, where the winner gets a free trip to Sweden.

“Through innovative thinking, active communication and an integrated way of working between the sections of trade, politics and development, the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi has, despite a difficult starting position, promoted the image of Sweden as a creative and proactive nation, and as important trading partner, which also promotes Swedish core values,” the award certificate says.

At the moment the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam is celebrating 45 years of diplomatic ties between Sweden and Vietnam with monthly events throughout 2014.
