Swedish government to help Jakarta solving traffic problems

The Swedish Government will introduce the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) in Jakarta. That was the message from the Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia spoke at the JakartaCity Hall on Friday 13 September, Antara News reported.

“We come here to offer a solution to traffic jams in Jakarta through the Electronic Road Pricing system,” Ewa Polano said.

The ERP system and technology, which has been used in Sweden, is the best method to resolve the traffic problems in Jakarta, the ambassador noted after meeting with the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.

“We hope to begin using this system in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya and other cities in Indonesia because we have the best system and technology in the implementation of ERP,” she said.

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama is welcoming the offer the Swedish Government.

“We are actually ready with the implementation of the ERP system along main roads in Jakarta, but we also will make every effort to increase the number of public buses,” he said.
