
On October 27, 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communication honored 10 dedicated Swedish journalists for their significant contributions to the development of Vietnamese journalism. This recognition is part of the “Enhancing Vietnamese Journalism” project, which Sweden supports and has trained thousands of journalists since its inception. Swedish Journalists in Vietnam

During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Thanh Lâm expressed gratitude toward the Swedish journalists. He acknowledged their roles as mentors and partners to many generations of Vietnamese journalists. Furthermore, Lâm emphasized the importance of this collaboration in fostering a professional and responsible media environment.
Sweden has staunchly supported Vietnam’s media landscape, especially during challenging times. Marie-Louise Thaning, Head of Trade Promotion at the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, highlighted Sweden’s commitment to fostering strong ties. She stated, “We aim to strengthen the media framework in Vietnam, ensuring that it can face modern challenges effectively.”
The recognition of these Swedish journalists aligns with Denmark, Finland, and Norway’s efforts to support key sectors in Vietnam, including media and education. As Vietnam continues to develop its journalistic practices, contributions from international partners remain vital for achieving higher standards while fostering a free press.
