A 52-year-old Swedish tourist was found dead in his hotel room in Patong, Phuket, on Tuesday 23 April 2025.

The man, identified by police only as Mr Pierre, had been staying alone at the hotel since 10 April. According to local authorities, there were no signs of struggle, forced entry, or foul play in the room, and his personal belongings, including medication, remained undisturbed.

The body was discovered by a hotel maid, who told police that Mr Pierre had been seen drinking alcohol daily. After receiving no response when attempting to clean the room in the morning and again at midday, she looked through the window and found him lying motionless. She entered the room and called emergency services, who later transported the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The Swedish Embassy has been informed and is contacting the man’s next of kin.

Police in Patong are continuing their investigation and await the results of the post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
