Thai berry pickers victims of drunk driver in Finland

Two Thai berry pickers who had just arrived this Monday 22 July 2019 to Finland, are in critical condition, and several other Thai berry pickers are seriously injured, after an early morning head-on crash between a passenger car and the minibus carrying a total of ten berry pickers from Thailand.

The accident happened around 05:00 on Tuesday morning on road 694 towards the town of Peräseinäjoki in Ostrobothnia.

Police say the driver of the passenger car was drunk when he crossed into the other lane, and smashed into the minibus which was traveling in the opposite direction.

The car driver had to be cut out of the wreckage by rescue crews and police say he’ll likely be charged with several offenses including aggravated drunk driving.

The injured berry pickers have been taken to hospital in Seinäjoki for treatment.
