The Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen has launched a “Thai Elephants in Denmark” youth art competition for Thai Elephant Day 2026. The contest is open to children under 18 who live in Denmark.

The embassy said 2026 marks 25 years since three Thai elephants Ton Sak, Kangrao and Surin arrived at Copenhagen Zoo, as gifts from The Kingdom of Thailand to Denmark, the Danish people and the royal family. It described the elephants as a symbol of friendship between Thailand and Denmark.

Entries can be A3 drawings or paintings, or digital art, with a short text about the inspiration. The embassy said AI tools are not allowed.

Submissions must be received by 4 March 2026. Winners will be announced on 11 March 2026, with an award ceremony on 13 March 2026 at the Elephant House at Copenhagen Zoo.

The embassy said winners will receive gifts and that winning and finalist works may be exhibited at the zoo. It also said the contest can help families with Thai-Danish ties celebrate shared culture through art.
