Thai Police arrest Swedish man wanted by Interpol

Authorities arrested a Swedish man in Sukhumvit who was evading an Interpol Red Notice.

Thai immigration authorities have arrested a Swedish man in Bangkok who was evading an Interpol Red Notice, TNN Thailand reports.

The arrest is part of Thailand’s ongoing efforts to prevent illegal stays and strengthen cooperation with international law enforcement agencies.

The Swedish Embassy in Thailand had requested help in locating the man, identified only as Mr. KNUT. He entered Thailand on December 5, 2023, and his visa was valid until March 3, 2026.

After his stay expired, immigration officers monitored his movements and carried out an investigation, ultimately apprehending him in the Sukhumvit area of Khlong Toei, Bangkok, on March 17, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Mr. KNUT has been charged with overstaying his visa and was handed over to local police for deportation to Sweden. Authorities emphasized that this case reflects Thailand’s commitment to collaborating with Interpol, Europol, and ASEANAPOL to share information and combat transnational crime.

The Immigration Bureau also highlighted that such arrests are part of a broader effort to ensure that foreigners comply with Thai immigration laws. By tracking and investigating those who violate visa rules, authorities aim to maintain security and uphold the country’s legal standards.

Officials noted that these efforts will continue rigorously and consistently, particularly as Thailand strengthens its intelligence sharing and investigative coordination with international partners.
