A 67-year-old Swedish tourist died after being hit by a car while crossing a road near Phuket Airport on 22 January.

A 67-year-old Swedish tourist has died after being hit by a car while crossing a road near Phuket International Airport on 22 January.

Police said the man and his Swedish wife had travelled from Krabi and were due to fly back to Sweden on 23 January.

The collision happened about 5:47pm near a PTT petrol station by the Route 4026 intersection, south of the airport. He was taken to Thalang Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6:51pm.

Sakhu police said the driver was a 34-year-old Thai man in a private car and has been charged with negligence causing death. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and the man’s name has not been released.
