Thailand and Denmark reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties during the 7th Thai-Danish Political Consultation held in Bangkok on Wednesday 10 April 2025.
Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand anf former Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, and Ms. Lina Gandløse Hansen, State Secretary for Trade and Investments of Denmark, co-chaired the meeting, which of course included also H.E. Mr. Danny Annan, Ambassador of Denmark to Thailand and Cambodia, among others.
The consultation focused on advancing a Thai-Danish green strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as circular economy, livestock and agriculture, innovation, green transition, health, logistics, and maritime development.
Both sides also discussed ways to boost trade and investment, including Denmark’s support for Thailand’s accession to the OECD and progress on concluding negotiations on a Thailand–EU Free Trade Agreement. Thailand also raised the issue of a Schengen visa waiver for Thai ordinary passport holders. The last issue has also been raised by Thailand with other Nordic countries, a.o. Finland, and is high in popular demand.
The Danish side hosted a Danish style luncheon in honour of the Thai delegation, where the two parties exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the situation in ASEAN, Europe, and the Middle East.
