Thailand’s higher airport departure fee for international travellers came into effect this weekend on Saturday 20 June.
The passenger service charge for international departures has increased from 730 baht to 1,120 baht at six Airports of Thailand (AOT)-managed airports: Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket and Hat Yai.
The fee is included in the ticket price and does not need to be paid separately at the airport.
AOT has said the additional revenue will be used to fund airport expansion projects, technology upgrades and improvements to passenger services.
