People who want to help organize the celebration of the Norwegian Constitution Day 17th of May now have the chance to become a part of the 17th May Committee in Singapore.

Every year the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in 1814 is marked with a flag waving parade, the wearing of national costumes and singing of national songs. The constitution declared Norway to be an independent kingdom and even though Singapore is a far away from Scandinavia, Norwegian expats have turned the 17th May celebrations into a yearly event.

The committee has monthly meetings and apart from volunteers it is made up by representatives from the Norwegian Seamen’s Church, the Norwegian School and Norwegian Business Association.
