As Vietnam accelerates its transition towards a high‑tech, green economy, the country is introducing new tools to balance growth with sustainability, The Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam reports.

The GreenREFORM project was launched in Hanoi, applying Denmark’s DREAM economic model to assess the environmental and climate impacts of economic policies.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen and Vietnam’s National Institute of Economics and Finance (NIEF), with support from local research institutes. The model has been adapted to Vietnam’s context, ensuring that it can provide practical guidance for policymakers.

“The economic journey of Vietnam and the region over the past decades has been called a ‘miracle’. But it is not; it is a deliberate pursuit by many actors, built on a solid foundation of evidence,” said Mette Ekeroth, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi.

The launch included the signing of a cooperation agreement between NIEF and the University of Copenhagen, followed by technical discussions on the global green transition and the modelling approach.
