Finnish Ambassador Keijo Norvanto has received Vietnam’s “For the Cause of Justice” medal in recognition of his contributions to strengthening legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.

The award was presented by Justice Minister Nguyen Hai Ninh at a ceremony at the Ministry of Justice headquarters on Wednesday 6 August 2025.

Nguyen Hai Ninh highlighted the role of the ambassador and the Finnish Embassy in fostering friendship and promoting cooperation between the two ministries of justice. He said they had played a vital part in consolidating legal and judicial relations, thereby deepening the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Finland.

The minister noted that Vietnam is accelerating institutional reform, developing science and technology, fostering innovation, and advancing digital transformation – all of which require a strong legal foundation. He expressed hope for the early negotiation and signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries to establish regular and effective cooperation, and encouraged further collaboration with Finnish partners, particularly the Rule of Law Centre at the University of Helsinki.

Norvanto thanked the Ministry of Justice for the recognition and said he would continue to support rule-of-law cooperation between Finland and Vietnam, with digital transformation as a key focus. He also expressed confidence that his successor would further advance bilateral cooperation and expand academic and institutional partnerships.
