Vietnamese researchers could gain new opportunities to work with Danish scientists under an agreement between FPT and the Niels Bohr Institute. The Vietnamese technology company and the University of Copenhagen institute exchanged a memorandum of understanding in Copenhagen on 20 October. It establishes a framework for cooperation in quantum information science and technology.
According to FPT, the partners will explore joint research and exchanges involving PhD candidates, researchers and technical specialists. They will also consider scientific workshops and other activities to share knowledge. The aim is to strengthen research links and help Vietnam develop expertise in quantum technology.
Research exchanges and training
Professor Joachim Mathiesen, director of the Niels Bohr Institute, welcomed the agreement. “This MoU marks an exciting beginning for our collaboration with FPT,” he said in FPT’s announcement. Mathiesen exchanged the agreement with Pham Minh Tuan, FPT’s executive vice president and CEO of FPT Software.
The ceremony took place during the Vietnam–Denmark Business Forum, attended by Vietnamese President To Lam and Denmark’s King Frederik X. The agreement was among 15 partnerships listed by the Confederation of Danish Industry following the forum. These covered sectors including technology, education, healthcare, energy and transport.
For now, the quantum agreement sets out areas the partners intend to explore. FPT’s announcement does not specify a budget or a timetable for individual research projects.
