World Food Programme received the Noble Peace Prize: “Food is the pathway to peace”

On 10 December 2020, Executive Director David Beasley accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020 on behalf of the World Food Programme. In the closing statement of his Acceptance Speech, Beasley highlighted the simple connection between feeding people and creating peace. He brought attention to the millions of people on the brink of starvation and pleaded with the world to help ease the burden of feeding them, a task he says would only take a fraction of the wealth accumulated during the pandemic.
