The partnership between Norway and UN Women on COVID response in Mon and Kayin States has achieved positive results. The partnership has focused on tackling unemployment and lack of income amongst women in IDP-camps due to the pandemic. The women have received livelihood training and several women in the IDP camps in Kayin State are now engaged in mask production.
The training has been provided in close collaboration with Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. Norway and UN Women have in addition to this collaboration, worked together for more than three years already in Mon and Kayin, to promote women participation and leadership in governance and peace process.
