Norwegian Robbery Suspect Caught in Thailand

A Norwegian man with Vietnamese origin, has been arrested by the Tourist Police in Thailand in front of Sintanee Village, in Chiangrai in the North of Thailand. He was sentenced in Norway to 3 years and 5 months imprisonment for committing several mini-mart robberies together with his gang. Then, since 14 of April, 2008, he escaped to Thailand.

According to the arresting officer, Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Mr. Panya Mamen, the Norwegian was caught once before by the Tourist police on electronic card abuse in Thailand but that time he manage to disappear before he got arrested. This time, the Norwegian was arrested because his passport had been declared invalid by the court in Norway and he could thus be apprehended as an illegal immigrant in Thailand.
