Swedish GAM-prosecutor travels to Indonesia in March

Chief prosecutor Tomas Lindstrand in Stockholm travels to Indonesia in March.
The purpose with the trip is to investigate alleged links between Swedish GAM residents and people in Indonesia.
The journey was confirmed to take place this month, but no exact date was revealed, when Scandasia contacted his office on Tuesday 2 March.
Tomas Lindstrand launched a preliminary investigation in mid February against leaders of the free Aceh movement, GAM, which resides in Sweden.
The move followed several Indonesian requests to the Swedish government to crack down on GAM leaders in Sweden.
Indonesia accuses the Sweden based GAM leaders of leading the insurgents fighting against regular Indonesian troops in Aceh province, northern Sumatra.
Last December did Indonesia send over a new lot of material, which Jakarta meant was evidence against GAM leaders in Sweden, to the prosecutor’s office in Stockholm.
Jakarta has also submitted a list to Stockholm of terror acts allegedly committed in Indonesia by GAM and associates
GAM wants to make Aceh a free nation. After a brief round of peace talks last year fighting broke out again and the intensity of this war has increased ever since.
It is expected that the Swedish prosecutor will meet and talk to imprisoned GAM-members while in Indonesia.
