China Eastern will resume direct flights between Shanghai Pudong and Stockholm Arlanda from 22 June 2026. The route will operate three times a week with an Airbus A330-200, marking the airline’s return to Stockholm after the service was last operated in 2020.
According to the published schedule, flight MU289 will leave Shanghai at 15:00 and arrive in Stockholm at 20:10. The return flight, MU290, will depart Stockholm at 22:40 and land back in Shanghai at 14:40 the following day.
The resumed route adds another direct link between Sweden and China. At present, Air China is also operating direct flights between Stockholm Arlanda and Beijing Capital, and current schedules show it as the only other nonstop airline on the Sweden–China market.
The Stockholm return also fits into China Eastern’s wider 2026 international expansion in Europe. The airline has said it will increase frequencies from Shanghai Pudong to Copenhagen, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Barcelona and Venice, while also launching a new Xi’an–Vienna route.
The move comes as China continues efforts to boost travel links with Europe. Sweden was added to China’s visa-free entry scheme in November 2025, allowing eligible visitors to enter for up to 30 days without a visa for business, tourism, family visits or transit.
