Vestas is no longer among the world’s five largest wind turbine manufacturers, after Chinese companies installed more turbines in 2025.
According to a report from the World Forum Offshore Wind, China now accounts for more than half of all offshore wind power in the world.
China added large amounts of new wind power in 2025 alone, further increasing its share.
In total, offshore wind farms globally can now produce enough electricity to power tens of millions of homes, with China responsible for the largest share.
The report also shows that newer wind turbines are becoming bigger and more powerful, with some models designed to produce significantly more electricity than earlier versions.
At the same time, Vestas accounted for 19 percent of new offshore wind projects awarded in 2025.
