Three Danish companies will present their technology in Jakarta as Indonesia seeks to expand local milk production and reduce its dependence on imports.
Carsten Bo Pedersen from SKOV-SECCO, Vicentius Suyanto from FOSS and Steven Chan from Novonesis will speak at a Denmark–Indonesia dairy seminar on 24 September.
The Embassy of Denmark in Indonesia and the Danish Agriculture & Food Council organise the event.
Indonesia plans major dairy expansion
Indonesia currently produces only around 16 percent of the milk consumed in the country. The government therefore plans to import one million dairy cows over five years and increase the national herd from approximately 220,000 cows to more than one million.
The expansion should help supply President Prabowo Subianto’s national meal programme for 83 million children and pregnant women.
For the Danish companies, the programme could create demand across the dairy supply chain. SKOV-SECCO develops ventilation and climate systems for livestock buildings. FOSS supplies equipment for analysing milk and dairy products, while Novonesis produces biosolutions for animal nutrition and dairy processing.
The seminar will bring the companies together with Indonesian dairy producers and other industry representatives.
