Danish-Filipino partnership drives jobs in Northern Luzon

A Danish-Filipino partnership is boosting offshore wind workforce development in Northern Luzon. Buhawind Energy Philippines, a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corporation and Copenhagen Energy, is spearheading efforts alongside a 2-gigawatt offshore wind project in Ilocos Norte.

At the forum “Skills & Strategies for Success” in Makati City, leaders from Denmark, the Philippines, and local universities discussed training programs and international certifications. The goal is to prepare Filipino workers for the growing renewable energy sector.

Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin emphasized the need for collaboration to create jobs and drive economic growth. Buhawind Energy Philippines President Francisco Delfin, Jr. called the initiative a step toward building skills and empowering local communities. The partnership aims to ensure the Philippines thrives in offshore wind energy while fostering long-term sustainability.
