Vietnam’s shift towards larger farms is creating opportunities for Danish agricultural technology, according to Mathias Sandholt Knauf of the Danish Agriculture & Food Council.
He outlined the potential at an agri-food technology forum in Ho Chi Minh City on 29 September. Eight Danish companies joined around 100 representatives from Vietnam’s agriculture and food sector.
Demand for Danish technology
Knauf pointed to demand for breeding stock, feed additives, automated feeding systems and slaughterhouse technology. As Vietnam expands production, he said Danish expertise could help businesses use resources more efficiently.
The forum was organised by the Danish Agriculture & Food Council and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam. Discussions covered animal health, food processing and farming based on data. Participants also explored ways to manage heat stress and improve feed use.
Vietnam outlines farming priorities
Meanwhile, Tran Phu Cuong, head of Ho Chi Minh City’s livestock and veterinary authority, outlined the city’s agricultural priorities. These include greater use of technology and circular production, where resources are reused.
He said Danish technology and breeding stock had already helped improve livestock breeding on local farms.
Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj, the Danish Embassy’s Head of Trade and Investment, also highlighted the role of practical business cooperation. He said sharing expertise could support more efficient, safe and sustainable food production in Vietnam.
