Swedes in Thailand have until today, 30 September, to apply for an income certificate from the Swedish embassy or honorary consulates. The service ends on 1 October 2026.
The certificates are used as supporting documents when applying to extend retirement or family visas in Thailand.
According to the embassy, the change follows revised Swedish regulations governing diplomatic missions abroad. Swedish documents intended for use overseas must be legalised in Sweden.
For residents who need to extend their stay, the embassy says Thai Immigration recommends bank statements from a Thai bank account. These must show the funds required for the relevant extension.
However, requirements may differ between local immigration offices. Applicants should therefore check which documents their local office accepts. Thai Immigration can also be contacted on 1178.
The embassy confirms that 30 September is the final application date.
