Tensions and conflicts around the world have made it more important than ever for authorities to know where their citizens are.

Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reminding citizens abroad to remove themselves from the “Danes List” once they return home.

The list is used by the ministry to keep track of Danes overseas and to contact them in case of crises such as conflicts, natural disasters or other emergencies.

According to the ministry’s citizen services department, cancelling finished registrations helps ensure authorities have a more accurate overview of how many Danes remain abroad and may need assistance.

Danes who signed up through the Rejseklar app can delete their registration directly in the app. Those who registered online can use the cancellation link in the confirmation email they received when signing up.
