Singapore’s education minister, Mr. Desmond Lee, is attending a summit in Estonia before visiting schools and officials in Finland and Denmark.

Singapore’s Minister for Education, Mr. Desmond Lee, will attend the 16th International Summit on the Teaching Profession in Tallinn, Estonia, from 9 to 11 March. The trip was announced by Singapore’s Ministry of Education on 8 March.

The annual summit brings together invited leaders from top-performing or rapidly improving education systems. This year’s theme is “Switching Gears: Teachers and Learners in the Future Learning Environment.” Discussions will focus on the changing role of teachers, professional autonomy, and the use of new technology including Artificial Intelligence in education.

Estonia is hosting the summit in partnership with the OECD and Education International. Estonian officials said ministers and education leaders from nearly 20 high-performing education systems were expected in Tallinn for the event.

On the sidelines of the summit, Lee is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with fellow ministers. After the Estonia programme, he will continue to Finland and Denmark to visit schools and institutions and meet education officials, accompanied by Ministry of Education staff.
