A Vietnamese scientist working in Sweden has been nominated for one of Vietnam’s most prestigious youth recognitions, Sinhviên Vietnam reports.
Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, a researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, has been nominated for the Outstanding Young Vietnamese of 2025 award in the field of scientific research.
Born in 1991, Dr. Tuan focuses on geotechnical engineering and sustainable infrastructure. His research explores “energy foundations” – building foundations that can both support structures and harvest geothermal energy to heat or cool buildings.
According to Dr. Tuan, such solutions could help cities reduce energy consumption, cut carbon emissions, and strengthen infrastructure against climate challenges.
Dr. Tuan has published 36 scientific articles in leading international journals, with most of them as the main author. His work has helped place him among the top 2 percent of the world’s most influential scientists in rankings by Stanford University and Elsevier.
In 2025 he also received Vietnam’s Golden Globe Award for Science and Technology and the international “Rising Star in Geotechnical Engineering” award.
Dr. Tuan has studied and worked in several countries including France, Japan, the United Kingdom and Sweden. He says he hopes to strengthen research collaboration with Vietnam and support young Vietnamese scientists in the future.
