Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson has opened his first solo exhibition in Indonesia at Museum MACAN in Jakarta. The show, titled “Your curious journey,” spans more than three decades of his work. It runs from 29 November 2025 until 12 April 2026.
The exhibition uses light, water, fog and other natural elements to explore ecological interdependence and human perception. Installations such as “Multiverses and futures” invite visitors to see the museum and themselves from new, fragmented perspectives. Eliasson stresses that artworks are completed only when visitors engage with curiosity.
Museum MACAN director Venus Lau said the exhibition highlights the bond between art and ecological thinking. She noted that the show encourages visitors to rethink their role within the environment and to deepen their relationship with the natural world.
Eliasson said the works in “Your curious journey” have travelled from many locations over three decades of practice. Each artwork reflects its own history and adapts to Museum MACAN’s specific setting. The Jakarta presentation brings together pieces not previously shown in this combination.
With Eliasson’s practice widely recognised in Europe and the Nordics, the exhibition offers Southeast Asian audiences a major Nordic–Indonesian cultural encounter. Museum visitors in Jakarta can experience his large-scale installations and ecological themes first-hand over the coming months.
