A 29-year-old Danish man was hospitalized following a stabbing incident in Patong, Phuket, according to Thai media Khaosod.

The altercation began late Thursday last week when the Danish man urinated outdoors near a shopping center after visiting a bar and restaurant. A 27-year-old security guard working at a nearby construction site confronted him, stating it was prohibited. This led to a fight during which the guard stabbed the Dane, injuring him near the ribs.

The victim’s girlfriend drove him to a local hospital, where doctors removed the knife lodged under his right armpit.

The security guard, identified as Daruwis (27), fled the scene but was quickly arrested at a nearby residence after police reviewed surveillance footage. He has been charged with attempted murder.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed awareness of the case, but has no further comments.
