Quezon City and the Royal Danish Embassy marked World Obesity Day on 4 March 2026. They unveiled a permanent health education totem at Quezon Memorial Circle.

Mayor Joy Belmonte cited national data on rising obesity. She said 6 in 10 Filipino adults have weight problems.

She also said 1 in 8 children and adolescents are overweight or obese. She linked the trend to processed and easily available food.

The totems sit along jogging paths and share science-based guidance. They explain BMI, waist measures, risk factors, and healthier habits.

Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin said the project reflects Denmark–Philippines cooperation on public health. He said it combines global expertise with local leadership.
