Denmark used the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing to highlight opportunities for Danish businesses in China and the importance of intellectual property protection.
Danish Ambassador Michael Starbæk Christensen attended the opening of CIFTIS 2026 on the first day of the event, joining political, municipal and business leaders for discussions on the development of global services and economic cooperation.
The ambassador also visited the “Smart Denmark” pavilion, where Danish companies presented solutions in areas including green transition, digital services and advanced technology. He met with representatives from the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China (DCCC) and Danish companies including TEGnology ApS, Stibo Systems and Scan Global Logistics to discuss market opportunities and industry trends.
In the afternoon, Starbæk Christensen delivered a keynote address at an IP-themed event, focusing on the embassy’s work to support intellectual property protection for Danish companies operating in China.
He stressed that strong cross-border IP protection is important for safeguarding innovation, attracting high-quality investment and supporting business growth.
Representatives from Novonesis, Danfoss and Lundbeck, which are among the companies involved in the Danish IP Alliance, also participated in the event.
The embassy said its engagement at CIFTIS forms part of efforts to strengthen Denmark’s presence in economic dialogue in China, support Danish companies in the Chinese market and promote cooperation on intellectual property and innovation.
