Over 80 key stakeholders from across the maritime sector participated in a workshop in Manila on Tuesday 2 April 2025 to advance the development of Green Corridors in the Philippines.
The event, hosted at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headquarters, was led by the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in collaboration with the ADB. It gathered fuel providers, port authorities, vessel operators, regulators, and environmental advocates to assess proposed shipping corridors and express their support through interactive sessions.
According to the Embassy of Denmark in the Philippines, the initiative builds momentum toward maritime decarbonisation and highlights the country’s potential to lead in green maritime innovation. The Philippines is one of the world’s top suppliers of seafarers and a major shipbuilding nation, with promising capacities in biofuels and maritime electrification.
Government agencies including the Department of Energy, the Maritime Industry Authority, and the Philippine Ports Authority contributed actively during panel discussions at the workshop.
The event marks the launch of the Green Corridor Pre-Feasibility Methodology—an early step in establishing concrete, collaborative climate action within the maritime sector.
