Discovery and ActionAid gives students in Sweden the opportunity to make a difference in Cambodia

Discovery Channel is now launching the Discovery Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to work with ActionAid involving engineering students by offering them the opportunity to be involved in project managing at a water work in the village of Sna Sangream in Siem Reap province, Cambodia.

The goal of the project is to increase access to clean water for the locals where the engineer’s knowledge is important to ensure the long term sustainability of the work. Furthermore, the goal of Discovery Scholarship to give the fellow a better knowledge and understanding of how engineers work in developing countries. The work on site is carried out by ActionAid Cambodia and their local partners, and funded by Discovery Networks Sweden.

Chalmers, Uppsala University and Lund University are three important partners for Discovery Scholarship. These institutions will actively encourage engineering students to apply for the scholarship through their digital communication channels and on each campus.

The Discovery Scholarship 2013 is aimed at  building – and engineering students. The aim of the scholarship is to make it annual with Discovery turning to groups of students who are studying subjects in areas such as Discovery programs and brand support. The scholarship was initiated by Amanda Lindgren (PR Manager) and Sofia Ollvid (Marketing Coordinator), Discovery Networks.
