Finland announces over 20 agreements at major China investment fair

Finland has announced more than 20 trade and investment framework agreements at the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, also known as CIFIT.

According to the Embassy of Finland in Beijing, the agreements have an estimated combined value of several billion euros. The embassy has not yet published details about the individual agreements, their values or all participating companies.

Finland opened its first national pavilion at the fair in Xiamen on Tuesday, September 8. The country is taking part as an official Guest Country of Honour alongside Saudi Arabia.

More than 40 Finnish companies attend

Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto leads a delegation of more than 40 companies during the visit.

The delegation represents industries including energy, healthcare, digital technology, advanced manufacturing and the circular economy.

Major participants at the Finnish pavilion include KONE, Nokia, Metso and Finnish Minerals Group. Other companies involved include Metsä, Peikko, UPM, Valmet and DCA Instruments.

Puisto said Finnish companies had already invested around EUR 12 billion in China. He described Finnish industrial expertise and the scale of the Chinese market as a strong combination for future cooperation.

The fair includes separate Finland-China meetings on green transition, health and wellbeing, smart manufacturing and industrial digitalisation.

ScandAsia previously reported that Finland would bring more than 40 companies to China. The newly announced agreements mark the first major result reported during the visit.

CIFIT runs from September 8 to 11 and brings together more than 1,200 government bodies and business delegations from 129 countries and regions.
