Finland’s diplomatic missions in China have held information sessions about the European Union’s new Entry/Exit System (EES).

The Embassy of Finland in Beijing and the Consulate General of Finland in Shanghai each held a session last week together with Visit Finland.

The sessions were aimed at travel agents who organise trips to Finland and other European countries.

Mikko Oksanen, a liaison officer from the Finnish Border Guard, explained how the new system works and answered questions from the travel agents.

The EES is a new digital system for registering non-EU travellers entering and leaving the Schengen Area. It will gradually replace passport stamps with digital records.

The Finnish missions said the sessions received positive feedback. They also highlighted the close cooperation between the missions and Chinese travel agencies.

The meetings were held to help travel agents understand the new rules and prepare Chinese travellers for the changes.
