A 23-year-old Finnish national was taken into custody in Davao City after allegedly hitting a traffic enforcer while attempting to flee, ABS CBN reports.

The man, identified as “Erik,” had been flagged down along Kilometer 6 in Barangay Buhangin Proper for driving against the flow of traffic. According to police, he ignored the officer’s instructions and continued driving.

As he sped away, his vehicle reportedly struck the traffic enforcer on the right shoulder.

Authorities quickly launched a pursuit involving traffic personnel and a mobile patrol unit. The suspect was later intercepted and arrested along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tibungco while driving a Toyota Revo.

He has since been charged before the city prosecutor’s office with resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, as well as reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury.
