Finnish trade delegation led by Minister Tavio to visit Singapore and Malaysia

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will lead a trade and export promotion mission to Singapore and Malaysia from Sunday 19 to Thursday 23 May 2025. He will be joined by a business delegation of around 30 Finnish companies exploring opportunities in Southeast Asia.

The visit aims to strengthen business ties between Finland and the region, focusing on Finnish expertise in clean energy, circular economy, smart urbanisation, and digital services. The mission also seeks to position Finland as a stable, innovation-driven investment destination committed to sustainable development.

In Singapore, Minister Tavio will meet his counterpart responsible for sustainable development, the environment, and foreign trade. His programme includes meetings with local investors and participation in SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025, a leading regional trade fair for the semiconductor industry.

“Singapore is one of the world’s most innovative and open economies and an important gateway to the Southeast Asian market,” says Minister Tavio.

“Finland has strong expertise in clean energy, circular economy and smart urbanisation—areas where Singapore is actively seeking partnerships.”

The visit will continue in Malaysia with stops in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. There, Minister Tavio will meet Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, as well as the Minister of Digital. The agenda also includes business networking events and visits to local technology clusters, including the fast-growing semiconductor hub in Penang.

“Malaysia is seeing strong economic development, and the country’s investments in clean transition, digitalisation and industrial modernisation offer diverse opportunities for Finnish high-technology companies,” says Minister Tavio.

The Finnish companies in the delegation represent the sectors targeted by the mission, focusing on technology, sustainability and digitalisation.
