Severe rainfall has hit southern Thailand in recent days, impacting popular tourist destinations like Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, and Koh Tao. The flooding has made it nearly impossible to travel on the roads, with many tourists abandoning scooters that break down in the water.
Adina Lönn, a Swedish tourist on Koh Phangan, describes the situation as chaotic in Aftonbladet:
– I know people who have lived here for years, and they say it hasn’t been this bad in four years.
In many areas, water has entered homes and hotels, leading to evacuations. Local authorities have issued warnings of continued heavy rain, and two fatalities have already been reported in the region.
Adina, currently staying at a yoga retreat with her mother, says:
– It would have been much more frightening if I were here alone for the first time.
The mood among tourists is marked by concern and uncertainty.
