Kongsberg Maritime signs MoU with Indonesia’s PT PAL

Kongsberg Maritime signed an MoU with Indonesia’s PT PAL to support more energy-efficient, lower-emission ship technology in Indonesia.

Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT PAL Indonesia, the country’s largest state-owned shipyard. The agreement was signed at PT PAL’s headquarters in Surabaya on 24 February.

Representatives from Kongsberg Maritime and PT PAL attended the signing ceremony. Norway’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Rut Krüger Giverin, was also present.

Kongsberg Maritime said the MoU will support cooperation on energy-efficient and lower-emission maritime solutions. The focus is on Indonesian vessel owners and operators.

The company said it expanded its presence in Indonesia in July 2025. It opened two offices in Jakarta and Batam to support sales and services.

PT PAL said the cooperation will support newbuilds and retrofits. It said it aims to integrate energy-efficient and low-emission technologies into vessels.
