Finnish lifestyle design house Marimekko will officially open a flagship store in Hong Kong on Thursday 16 October 2025.
The new store is located on Leighton Road in Causeway Bay, a major shopping district for both local and international visitors. Marimekko first established a store on Leighton Road in 2012, which has now been refurbished and re-opened as a flagship outlet. The store is operated by Sidefame Ltd., Marimekko’s franchise partner in Hong Kong and China since 2011.
“We believe that even in a digitalized world, creative and emotionally engaging physical retail concepts play an important role as the hearts of brand culture, fueling omnichannel growth. We are excited together with our esteemed partner Sidefame to take this next step in Hong Kong to build up the Marimekko phenomenon,” says Natacha Defrance, Senior Vice President, Sales, Region East at Marimekko.
The flagship features Marimekko’s updated store concept. The exterior highlights the brand’s well-known Unikko print, while the interior design draws inspiration from Marimekko’s textile printing factory in Helsinki. Customers can explore a curated selection of products ranging from fashion and accessories to home items and printed fabrics.
Marimekko has identified Asia as its most important geographical area for international growth during its 2023–2027 strategy period. Hong Kong, known as a hub for creativity, fashion and design, plays a central role in this approach.
