The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently hosted a cultural diplomacy program in Phetchaburi, inviting diplomats from six countries, including Norway, to experience the province’s heritage and gastronomy.
The initiative, Travel Thailand with Diplomats: 5 Must-Do Experiences, aims to highlight Thailand’s soft power and promote local destinations. Phetchaburi, recognised by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy, was selected as the focus of this second diplomatic route.
During the two-day visit, the delegation explored Khao Luang Cave, learned natural dye techniques in Laem Phak Bia fishing community, enjoyed local seafood in Cha-Am, and stayed overnight in Hua Hin. They also joined the Cham Rong community to take part in traditional palm sugar making, food tasting and craft demonstrations.
According to TAT, the program demonstrates how local flavours, lifestyle and culture can strengthen Thailand’s position as a high-quality tourism destination.
