Miss Norway 2025, Leonora Lysglimt-Rødland, made headlines at this year’s Miss Universe pageant in Thailand after appearing in a costume inspired by a Norwegian salmon — a nod to her country’s maritime heritage and its leading seafood exports to Asia.
The Oslo-born contestant’s shimmering pink and silver outfit went viral online following the preliminary round, where she removed the outer layer to reveal a bodysuit symbolizing the salmon’s inner side. The dramatic performance drew global attention and applause at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, near Bangkok.
Norway is among the world’s largest exporters of salmon, with Thailand serving as one of its key Asian markets. Norwegian salmon has become increasingly popular in Thai restaurants and supermarkets, reflecting the growing seafood trade between the two countries.
At just 19 years old, Lysglimt-Rødland’s performance doubled as a celebration of Norway’s cultural identity and its strong trade links with Thailand’s thriving food sector — making the Nordic fish both a fashion statement and an economic symbol on the Miss Universe stage.
