Denmark’s ambassador to Malaysia, Kirstine Vangkilde Berner, opened the event. Penang’s state executive councillor for infrastructure, transport and digital, Zairil Khir Johari, outlined the state’s priorities for improving mobility and securing water supplies.
The Danish Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, DanCham, highlighted Kamstrup and Ramboll in its account of the roadshow.
Transport and water priorities
According to DanCham, Zairil’s presentation covered Silicon Island, the Mutiara LRT rail project and the Sungai Nibong Inclusive Transit-Oriented Development.
He also addressed electric buses, communities designed for walking, energy-efficient buildings and green design. Water security formed another part of the presentation, including contingency planning and new water treatment capacity.
Meetings with local stakeholders
The roadshow brought together Nordic businesses and Malaysian stakeholders, with support from the embassies and business chambers of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The Penang programme included a planned roundtable with Penang City Council, visits to Penang Port and the council’s control centre, and individual meetings with potential buyers and integrators.
The next stop is scheduled for Kuching on 15 October. Its programme focuses on clean energy, resilient communities and the circular economy, including a forum hosted by InvestSarawak.
