Nordic cinema will take centre stage in Singapore later this month as Filmhouse hosts the 2026 Nordic Film Festival from 17 to 26 September.
Presented in partnership with the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the festival features five films showcasing contemporary stories from across the Nordic region. The programme spans comedy, drama and documentary, with themes ranging from family and relationships to social change and community.
The festival opens on 17 September with Swedish comedy The Dance Club, followed on 18 September by Icelandic documentary The Day Iceland Stood Still, which explores the historic 1975 women’s strike in Iceland.
Finnish drama Summer Is Crazy will screen on 24 September, while Norwegian drama Loveable and Danish dark comedy The Last Viking, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, will conclude the programme on 26 September.
All five films will have individual screenings at Filmhouse in Golden Mile Tower, offering Singapore audiences an opportunity to experience contemporary Nordic filmmaking across five different national perspectives.
