Nordics are choosing Vietnam like never before

Tourists from Denmark, Sweden and Norway are heading to Vietnam in growing numbers as the country records its strongest tourism start ever.

Vietnam welcomed 6.76 million foreign visitors in the first quarter of 2026 – a 12% increase year-on-year and the highest quarterly figure on record, according to National Statistics Office.

Nordic growth stands out

Among the fastest-growing markets were Nordic and European travellers.

Arrivals from Sweden rose by 27.5%, Norway by 26%, and Denmark by more than 20%.

Asia still dominates

China remained the largest source of visitors with more than 1.4 million arrivals, followed by South Korea with nearly 1.33 million.

In March alone, Vietnam received close to 2.1 million international tourists.

Most visitors arrived by air, accounting for more than 82% of total arrivals.
