Norway’s ambassador bids farewell to Thailand’s King and Queen

Norway’s Ambassador to Thailand, Astrid Emilie Helle, met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida on 8 August as she prepares to conclude her posting in the country.

According to the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, the farewell audience reflected the close relationship between Norway and Thailand, which have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 120 years.

Helle expressed her gratitude for her years in Thailand and for the cooperation between the two countries.

She was appointed Norway’s ambassador to Thailand in 2022 and has also served as ambassador to Cambodia during her posting in Bangkok.

Norway has appointed Frode Solberg as its next ambassador to Thailand. His appointment was announced by the Norwegian government in May 2026, with his starting date to be determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
