This Monday, the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) in Vietnam welcomed Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken among ambassadors rom New Zealand, Norway, Canada, and Switzerland to Thua Thien Hue province. The delegation observed NPA’s mine action activities aimed at addressing the legacy of war and supporting local communities.
The visit highlighted the critical role of women in NPA’s operations, as female staff shared personal stories of overcoming challenges during their decade-long work with the organization. Their efforts showcase NPA’s commitment to promoting gender diversity and advancing Vietnam’s national Women, Peace, and Security agenda.
Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken underscored the significance of NPA’s initiatives, stating:
“As the Ambassador of Norway to Vietnam, I am so proud of what the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has been doing in their demining works. Humanitarian disarmament is one of the priorities of the Norwegian Government. I believe NPA’s work, particularly in Hue, can be a good example for other demining organizations. It inspires us all.”
The ambassadors expressed hope that NPA’s efforts will continue and inspire similar projects across Vietnam.
